DREAMS DO COME TRUE.

Beautiful home by The Bay of Conception, Baja Mexico      $79K US

Mulege:
Around the Estuary of Mulegé (moo-luh-HAY), “Just another day in Paradise” has become a common greeting.
If you like the desert and the beach within almost a stone's throw of each other, and a nearby municipal airstrip, then you might consider retiring comfortably, or having your winter retreat to Casa Granada de Mulegé.

About two-thirds the way down the Baja peninsula on the Sea of Cortez side, Mulegé is an eight-street town with no stoplights, few tourists and dozens of empty beaches in stunning coves. It's the kind of place where the car radio will scan fruitlessly for a station, where driving into town you might need to stop for donkeys and cattle or goats, and where it's still possible to find sun-bleached bones among the saguaro cactus.
The magnificent Bay of Conecption eastern finger protects the dotted islands and shore line of deserted beaches, some with straw roofed Palapayas.

With its historic “Mision de Santa Rosalia”, Mulegé is a vibrant, historic Baja Sur village, with only a population of a mere 3700. Located on the “transpeninsular” highway; between San Diego and Los Cabos, Mulegé is it's own hidden "Shangri-La".
Within minutes of a 3-mile long unspoiled beach, a sensual strip of dunes and all nestled round rustic farmlands.

Mulegé is located 12 km North of the spectacular scenery and wild life of “Bahia Conception," and another 118 km North of the popular Preservation Mission Town of Loreto, with it's larger international airport.
It is the escape destination for people who want to experience the magnificent nature of desert plus ocean, with all the many outdoor activities Baja California has to offer. Without having to deal with the hustle of larger tourist hubs, Mulegé is also a place for them to take their break traveling between to or from Los Cabos and San Diego. Best of all, Mulegé is the perfect seasonal retreat (second home), for many northern neighbors.Tropical fruits are cultivated, including oranges, bananas, limes, and mangoes.

Mulegé still feels authentic, but the same can't be said for many of the sleepy mission towns that are transforming into mini-Cabo San Lucas carnivals, as development inexorably creeps along virtually every stretch of Mexico's coastline.
Loreto, 1.5 hours south on the coast, now has its own airport, golf courses, shopping malls, nightclubs and swaths of condos.

Mulegé is internationally famous for its rich fishing grounds in the Gulf of California.
A warm current from the southern and a cold current from the northern Pacific come together in the Mulegé area of the Gulf of California and encourage a great variety of different fish species.
Mulegé has a loyal following among sport-fishers who anchor outside the protected bays, in the open Sea of Cortez and pull in yellow-tail, grouper, marlin and dorado.
The Gulf is sometimes known as the "Sea of Cortez", after the Spanish explorer, Hernán Cortés, who sailed into the area.

Most of Mulegé's residents live near the wide arroyo formed by Rio Santa Rosalia, a tropical, palm tree-lined estuary that empties into the Sea of Cortez. Mulegé's perfect mix of desert and tropics provides a playland for kayakers, snorkelers, birdwatchers, hikers and scuba divers.

The coves of Mulegé are dotted with islands that provide plenty of reefs for marine life, habitat for rare birds and lots of caves for exploring. Desert lovers who go west can find natural hot springs, and indigenous petroglyphs.

It was said by one resident who winters there, from California, "This is how I imagine Hawaii was before it was overrun with tourists.
