General Purpose and Scope of Position:

The Wilbur Ellis Company Nutrition Division is seeking a driven professional to fill our Associate Marketer, Seasonal role in our Cremona, AB facility. This role will require occasional overtime and ideally will run through early June to late September. We need someone who is eager to learn more about the forage industry, product pricing, and wants to cultivate strong relationships with suppliers and customers. The ideal candidate has a love of agriculture and wants to build their sales and customer service skills. The Wilbur-Ellis team is a high-energy one, whose members’ longevity speaks to our positive work environment.

Key Skills and Abilities include:

Currently working on or has completed a degree in Agriculture and/or equivalent experience in forage or agricultural operations
Background in Agriculture – good knowledge of farming operations, working with producers or farmers in a business relationship capacity a plus
Experience purchasing or selling agricultural products or commodities would be an asset

Key Personal Attributes Include:

Strong will to succeed – a creative thinker who can build a business and has the ability to make cold calls and deal with rejection
Self-disciplined & motivated; grow negotiation & relationship-building skills
An outgoing, positive approach to business, a “can do” attitude with a high level of integrity

Specific Responsibilities and Key Deliverables Include:

Cultivate relationships with existing growers and suppliers
Regular field visits and daily updating of the online mapping system
Daily customer outreach including onsite visits
Check moistures in sheds and update online notes daily Pull representative samples and core samples for analysis as needed
Complete heater core tests in the field with farmers during the baling process
Assist with the purchase of forage products for our Lethbridge and Cremona facilities
Assist on customer visits and monitor product quality throughout the summer
Assist with the custom harvesting at our land agreement sites
Manage the sample process including taking sample pictures, cataloging of samples, prepare samples for distribution, tag bins with stack numbers, fill bins with representative samples and store properly in the sample room
Prepare field inspection reports of stacks that have been purchased for CFIA audit purposes
