Primary Accountabilities:
Our retained client has an immediate need for a Remote Senior PostgreSQL OpenShift Developer (HL7). The ideal candidate will have strong backend development skills, experience with modern DevOps practices, and deep familiarity with healthcare interoperability standards such as HL7 v2 and FHIR.
You will work closely with architects, integration specialists, and QA teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality solutions in a fully remote environment.
You will be required to critically analyze application and architecture requirements, and to devise sound solutions that address business challenges using our retained client’s methodologies, data quality principles, and industry standards. You will be responsible for developing project plans, logical and physical design specifications, architecture diagrams, executable code, and unit/integration test plans.
To be the successful candidate you must be self motivated and willing to learn, and be able to perform comfortably in a fast paced, team and deliverables oriented work environment and possess good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and be sensitive to deadlines and to the impact your work has on an overall project schedule.
Experience defining architectural standards, selecting development tools, and driving organization improvements is a big plus.
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with major coursework in information systems, computer science or a related field, with at least 10+ years of experience successfully developing and supporting enterprise applications.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:
The successful candidate will be a problem solver who is able to step up and take initiative and to methodically analyze and resolve programming challenges. You are comfortable seeking peer and supervisory guidance on complex application challenges and have a desire to learn, and adapt to new technologies and languages, and to improve your technical skills through ongoing research and development activities.
Required Skills:
• Design, develop, and maintain robust application and integration components using best practices
• Build and support healthcare data integrations using HL7 v2, HL7XFER, and FHIR
• Develop and optimize PostgreSQL database schemas, queries, and performance
• Deploy and manage applications on OpenShift (Kubernetes-based platforms)
• Implement authentication and authorization using Keycloak
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub and GitHub Actions
• Ensure code quality through automated testing, code reviews, and static/dynamic analysis
• Create and execute API and integration tests using ReadyAPI
• Support test management and quality reporting using Xray
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex application and integration issues
• Produce clear technical documentation and contribute to knowledge sharing across teams
• Proven experience as a Senior Application Developer or similar role
• Strong hands-on experience with:
- PostgreSQL
- OpenShift / Kubernetes
- HL7 v2 messaging and healthcare integrations
- HL7XFER
- Keycloak for identity and access management
- GitHub for source control
- GitHub Actions for CI/CD automation
- ReadyAPI for API and integration testing
- Xray for test management
- FHIR APIs and resources
• Strong understanding of RESTful APIs and integration patterns
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
Nice to Have Experience:
• Healthcare, Insurance, or Banking/Finance background
• Prior experience in healthcare, clinical, or regulated environments
• Exposure to security, compliance, or data privacy standards
• Experience working with distributed, remote teams
