One pair of PMU Green Hands for sale. We acquired these while watching the Tour de France in 2005, the last year Lance Armstrong won the race. Each hand is printed on both sides and is made of flexible cardboard. Used, but in great condition. Below is some information regarding the legend of the Green Hands…
THE STORY OF THE PMU GREEN HAND
The PMU green hand was visible on the roads of the Tour de France at a time when PMU was the official sponsor of the green jersey, from 1985 to 2014. Symbols of the Tour de France, the PMU-branded green hands were distributed at the time by the Tour caravan. They were then waved by spectators approaching the sprints. They could also be clapped together to make noise.
In 2015, the green jersey for the points classification leader changed sponsors and Skoda took over. The giant hands then disappeared from the roadside along with the floats of the horse betting company.
