I have a Tayana 52 ft Center Cockpit boat similar to this one:

I'm hoping to meet other people who would like to sail and share expenses on a week-long sailing trip, or simply sail. Berths available starting July 10 to Sept 15.
In the early seventies I launched the English Bay Sailing School, until I realized it got in the way of cruising. So if you're curious about navigation, sailing, and running a boat, I'm glad to teach a bit. I've sailed for 50 years and I still learn every day. I've owned 10 sailboats and a tug. I've lived on the Fraser for years on floating homes. I'm also big on house building, both on land and on the water. Check out the float home I built, third picture down. It sits in the marina I built in Richmond for floating homes, which I still own, third picture down. https://riversbendfloatinghomevillage.com/ I've been a member of Barnette Sailing Club for about 5 years and Blue Water Cruising for about the same, so folks around these clubs know me.
I'm after male or female, or a couple, to sail with who is willing to contribute to boat expenses, diesel and food. I spend about $30,000 a year on insurance, moorage and upgrades, so you know what they say about the hole in the water. I'm not trying to recoup all of that, just a minor contribution, about the same as a cheap hotel room would cost you, only this one moves and has amazing views, peace and quiet, crabbing, fishing and clamming. We'll go to parts of this country you'd never see any other way, in one of the best places in the world to boat. This is the 10th boat I've owned. My wife isn't keen on sailing, but I like to spend the summers on the water here in BC. There are two cabins forward and your own bathroom and shower. I'm able to take two singles out, or a couple, for about 7 days, starting July 10 to about Sept 15.
Unless you start the trip in Richmond, you'd have to make your way to the boat, which will be up island and easy to get to by bus or car. I won't be returning to the same spot to drop you off, but I'll get you to a place where you can find cheap transport and/or a public bus back to where you started. There are buses that run up and down Vancouver Island and to Lund or Powell River on the Sechelt side. There are also sea planes if you fancy a great view and a quick return. I usually cruise up towards Desolation Sound, Cortez and Quadra, and might go further north this year to the Broughton Archipelago.
It's a non-smoking boat and I don't drink, but you're welcome to drink a few. In BC, in the summer, "sailing" can be a bit of a misnomer, as there are few days with wind — but if there is some, we can try to catch it. We're not likely to move every day, and I generally anchor out. I have a great RIB dinghy for exploring around. Shared cooking, dishwashing and cleaning — there will be no white linen service. If you're up for it, email me or message me here. Reasonable cost for the experience, about the same as a cheap hotel room, plus great food. If you're interested in coming along for a leg of the trip, you can see my bio, and there's a video of me speaking on our corporate website if you'd like to know more about me and what I do professionally. https://www.tricitygroup.ca/investing Look down the page — there's a video of me speaking.
